La Locanda Restaurant Saas-Fee | The Capra

La Locanda – Restaurant in Saas-Fee

From local delicacies at breakfast to tasting menus by a two Michelin-starred chef, food at The Capra always exceeds expectations.

Breakfast will set you up for a day on the slopes, with a wholesome buffet and à la carte options, including eggs Benedict and pillowy pancakes. Children are treated to a specially selected children’s menu and a warm, comforting cocoa swirled with Swiss chocolate buttons.

The Capra’s laidback Bar and Lounge is the perfect spot to relax after a long day filled with alpine activities or to enjoy a casual lunch or dinner.

The Capra’s fine dining restaurant, La Locanda by Oliver Glowig, is a destination in its own right. Fresh, inventive dishes showcase the finest Swiss ingredients with Italian influences.

La Locanda

Fine dining in the Swiss Alps

Our chef Oliver Glowig won two Michelin stars within eight months of opening his eponymous restaurant in Rome.  At The Capra, he has created a modern Italian menu with a distinctively Swiss touch. The fusion of local ingredients and global influences is evident in signature dishes such as the spiced homemade tortelli filled with duck confit and vanilla and goat cheese mousse with local wild berries.

As well as an à la Carte menu, there are two tasting menus: ‘Tradition’ and ‘Innovation’. The spotlight is on quality ingredients, cooked with delicate precision and imaginative flair.

Like the food, the wood-panelled dining room lined with cayenne cushions scattered on aged leather banquettes is sophisticated, but not stuffy. The adjacent private dining room seating 20 is also available to be booked for special events.  You can also reserve a place at the Chef’s Table, a rare opportunity to witness a world-renowned chef and his team in action.

Bar & Lounge

Après-ski for epicureans

A casual alternative to La Locanda restaurant, our cosy Bar & Lounge offers a welcoming and relaxed après-ski experience.

Kick off the evening with one of our classic cocktails or a flute of Oliver Glowig’s own Blanc de Blancs. The sommelier will introduce you to the impressive wines of the Valais, paired with artisan cheeses and cured meats. Round off the night in Swiss style with a traditional digestif – apricot eau de vie or pear brandy, produced in the nearby orchards of the Rhône valley.

Simple comfort food is served by a crackling fire in winter and on the sun-dappled terrace in summer.  The emphasis is on seasonal ingredients sourced from small, local producers.

Wine Cellar

Best sellers from Swiss cellars

The wine cellar makes an atmospheric backdrop for private dining, intimate events, or special celebrations.

The Capra’s wine list includes exciting vintages from established and up-and-coming wineries worldwide. But the main focus is on local wines from the Valais, Switzerland’s foremost wine-growing region. It’s also home to the highest vines in Europe at Visperterminen, 1100m above sea level. The three main varieties are Pinot Noir, Chasselas and Gamay.

Our sommelier hosts wine tastings, so our guests can discover Switzerland’s best-kept secret – the exceptional wines of the Valais.
