About The Capra | Luxury Ski Hotel in Saas-Fee

About The Capra

The Capra is an intimate 5 star alpine lodge in a spectacular natural setting. There’s nowhere else in the world where so many 4000 metre peaks are visible at a single glance.  The car-free Swiss ski resort of Saas-Fee is a favourite among winter sports connoisseurs for its long ski season, guaranteed high quality snow, and authentic charm.

Combining the cosiness of a chalet with the comforts of a luxury hotel, The Capra’s understated elegance is inspired by the pure intensity of the alpine scenery. Expansive suites in warm earth tones have panoramic views of snow-frosted peaks, pristine valleys, and wide-open skies.  The Capra is the ultimate place to relax, recharge, and reconnect with nature.

The fire-lit lounge, snug library, and delightful spa are designed to soothe your senses after a day of exhilarating alpine activities. Even more indulgent is the refined Italian cuisine at La Locanda, the destination restaurant by two Michelin-starred chef Oliver Glowig.

The Capra has converted a traditional barn to a ski-in, ski-out cabin that allows for carefree access to the ski pistes.

Alpine authenticity, outstanding hospitality

The Capra is the vision of a group of friends who wanted to create a luxury ski lodge in an unspoiled setting in the Swiss Alps. After a long search for the right property, in 2014 they transformed a traditional Swiss hotel into an all-suites chalet hotel that blends rustic charm with modern design. The attention to detail and quality of service exemplify Switzerland’s unrivalled reputation for five-star hospitality.

The Capra is inspired by the Latin word for mountain goat and after the black and white goats that roam the valleys and peaks around Saas-Fee. Unique to the Valais region, these adventurous creatures reflect the hotel’s authentic sense of place and respect for the natural environment. The two-tone goats also embody the ying-yang – the holistic harmony between man and nature, mind and body, which is the hallmark of The Capra.

In the coming years, The Capra will expand to include a new chalet with 10 suites and a state-of-the-art spa designed by Liv Nordic. The latest spa concept by Raison d’Etre, Liv Nordic is a perfect fit for the hotel’s ethos – a healthy lifestyle, in tune with nature, with space to indulge and unwind.

Chalet luxury with a modern twist

The Capra’s warm atmosphere is designed to complement, the traditional village setting and dramatic alpine landscape.

Soothing colours, organic materials, and rich textures are inspired by nature – wood-panelled walls, brushed tweeds, stone bathrooms.  Glowing log fires are reflected in crystal ceiling lights, evocative of the sparkling glaciers framed in floor-to-ceiling windows.

The design of the hotel has been undertaken by a group of Swiss architects complemented by UK interior design management team, with a focus on fusing the alpine traditional character with modern luxury.  All the furnishing has been designed bespoke, specifically for The Capra. The lighting concept was designed by leading Swiss design team and is based on the theme “fire and ice”, in harmony with the contrasting environment ensuring to enhance the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel.

Traditional elements are seamlessly combined with the latest technology, from under-floor heating to wireless entertainment systems. The result is a timeless classic that captures the relaxed spirit of chalet luxury.
